1: Beginning

Hello. Today i will discussing whether we should or should not have to do a presentation for a grade. i will be giving reasons both for and against, and other peoples opinions on this

2: Yes, we should

It could be argued that doing presentations in front of a class of 30 of our peers is beneficial to us and our futures, as it helps boost confidence in people when talking to/in front of others

It could help us for preparing presentations/speeches later on in life, and will also help with how to address the audience eg not to use too much humour as then it will make the audience feel like you're not taking it seriously, but just enough so they know you're comfortable

This could also be beneficial to the audience/listeners as it could raise awareness about a certain subject that they had not considered/thought about

3: No, we shouldn't

On the other hand, this is not beneficial to people who suffer from anxiety or who just struggle coping when talking to/in front of people and with all the attention being on them

These are not only testing our presenting and talking skills, but also our skills in listening to others, which can be a big problem for people with ADHD, or just people who have trouble concentrating for a certain amount of time. Why should they lose marks purely because of something they cannot help?

4: Opinions

I did a poll on Instagram, asking "Is it beneficial for students to do a speech or presentation for a GCSE and Why/Why not?". These were some of the results

In the end, 57% answered No, which means only 43% voted for Yes

I also asked whether people were doing it in front of their whole class, or just to their teacher. 60% are doing it just to their teacher

5: Final Slide

Thank you for listening to my presentation. Are there any questions?

i personally do not think we should have to do a presentation, due to the fact that, although it could help when we're in an interview for a job or college, our interview is not going to be in front of 30 of our friends/peers, and we aren't very likely to havr to do a presentation on something we are passionate about
