  • Explicit – memory for information we are aware of learning e.g. times tables. Active recollection of material that has been studied.
  • Implicit – does not rely on conscious awareness
  • Sensory memory – memory of the senses
  •   Iconic – Sensory memory for vision e.g. after effect – blinded by the sun/fireworks
  •   Echoic – Sensory memory for audition/hearing e.g. used in pitch detection, language interpretation
