What are the benefits of Tataquara Lodge?

Environmental Benefits:

  • The lodge was built from local materials such as straw and wood that was found on the gorund. This means they didn't have to cut down any trees. These materials also make the buildings blend in with the natural environment so they don't spoil the scenery.
  • It uses solar power to run lights, rather than burning fossil fuels to generate electricity, which is better for the environment.
  • The food is all locally produced. This means less fossil fuels are used in transportation.

Economic Benefits:

  • It is owned by a cooperative of tribes rather than a big foreign company, so all money earnt is put back into the local economy.
  • As the lodge uses locally produced fod, more money goes back into the local economy.

Benefits for the Local People:

  • Jobs are created for local people, such as seling crafts, also helping to preserve the culture.
  • Profits can provide decent healthcare and education for the local people.

How does Tataquara Lodge help towards sustainabili

Profits from the lodge are ised to improve healthcare and education in the area. This helps the area to develop by increasing the quality of life for the local people.

The development is sustainable as the money to do it is generated without damaging the environment. For example, local people don't have to find alternative forms of employment, such as logging. Also, resources aren't used up, such as solar power is used, so more resources are available for future generations, and as little damage is done to the environment as possible.
