THE JIGGER SYSTEM

  • Fabric is pulled back and forth through a dye bath
  • This makes sure colour is spread evenly through the complete batch of fabric
  • this process is most successful with medium to heavy weight woven fabric

THE WINCH SYSTEM

  • A winch pulls the fabric from the front of the dye bath to the back of the dye bath in a circular movement
  • this process is most suitable for knitted fabrics
  • light weight woven fabrics
  • silk

THE JET DYEING PROCESS

  • Fabric is moved around the Dye bath with high pressure jets
  • Useful when dyeing multicoulored designs- each jet is controlled by a computer to inject dye at certain positions of the carpet

DYEING AND THE ENVIROMENT

  • Water and air pollution - legislation is in place to ensure the proper handling and disposal of chemicals, emissions and waste
