Distance and Displacement

Distance is a scalar quantity becasue it involves speed size but not direction.

Scalar=size (think scale)

Displacement is a vector quantity because it involves both size and direction from a starting point.

e.g. if a sprinter sprints 100 metres from the starting line and back at the same pace then the displacement would be zero but the distance would be 200! :)
