Endoscopy

An endoscope is a long, thin, flexible tube that has a light source and camera at one end. Images of the inside of your body are relayed to a television screen.

Endoscopes can be inserted down the throat to look at the oesophagus, stomach and small intestine or through the anus to look at the large intestine. Often used in key hole surgery and are inserted through a small cut in the skin.
