start Our teeth break down food into small pieces when we chew

This is because the food is too large to be absorbed!

For the food to be broken down  special chemicals called Enzymes are needed

Enzymes

Are special proteins that break down large molecules into small ones.

They have a specific shape for the specific molecule and fit like a key in a lock

Protease enxymes break down proteins into amino acids.

Carboyhdrase enzymes break down carboyhydrates into sugar.

Lipase enzymes break down fats in fatty acids and glycerol.

If the shape changes the enzyme will no longer work!
