Diffusion

  • Dissolved substances move in and out of cells through diffusion
  • Diffusion is the spreading of particles through a gas, or of any substance in solution, resulting in the net movement where they are a higher concentration to a region where there is lower concentration.
  • The greater the difference in concentration, the higher the rate of diffusion
  • Oxygen required for respiration passes through cell membranes by diffusion
