Some reasons why they are more likely to be in poverty are:
- Inability to undertake paid employment maybe due to a physical or even mental injury.
- Low pay
- Employer discrimination where some may not employ a disabled adult for a number of different reasons.
- Inadequate welfare benefits where they may not be given enough to cover them financially.
