  • This helped over 1.5 million children across the world better their literacy skills.
  • This helps to increase adult literacy rate which will increase the HDI in a country which decreases the inequality of HDIs between countries.

  • Life expectancy = 80.2 years
  • GDP per capita = $37,700
  • 6% of the population live below the poverty line
  • Over 73% of the people aged 15 to 64 have a paid job.
  • A large amount of the population are paying tax to the government which can then be reinvested back into the country in order to improve the living conditions.
  • 99.5% of the population have access to a private indoor flushing toilet.
  • Clean sanitation reduces the risk of becoming ill and therefore people can work and earn an income.

  • GDP per capita is $505.05
  • War with neighbouring country Eritrea caused widespread famine.
  • Population of over 94,000,000
  • Countries then did not want to trade with Ethiopia due to their instable political stance.
  • 29.6% of people live under the poverty line.
  • Life expectancy of 62 years.

  • Make Poverty History made a deal which allowed Nigeria's creditors to cancel roughly two thirds of their debt
  • The money from the loan was then lent to corrupt military dictators.

  • Achieve major reform of the international trading system through the introduction of lower trade barriers and revised trade rules.
  • Abolish hard import quotas on agricultural products from the developing world and instead would only be allowed to charge tariffs on amounts of agricultural imports exceeding specific limits.
  • In 2013, the declaration was agreed to make special treatment for LEDCs close to becoming NICs throughout the negotiations.
