1. Question

Q1. You have just recruited an administrative Assistant to input the information into the computer. This information could be input into a spreadsheet or a database. The assistant has not used either of these packages before. Write a memo to the assistant (Jill) comparing the two packages and then advise her on which to use (6 marks)

2 of 5

1. Answer

+ Searches could be done using both packages – but more complex searches in DB as you can search for two criteria in the same query

+ But using the db would enable you to save each search – e.g. all hotels with Ensuite - to use again with other customers – whereas in sp the search would have to be set up each time

+ Customised reports could be used in DB- which could be printed and sent to customers

+ Spreadsheet better for calculations
