Data Storage - Backing Storage
Flash memory is often used in memory sticks
- it's a type of non - volatile memory which can be used to store gigabytes of data .
- often sold in pen-type devices (something that easily connects with the computer by fitting into a USB socket)
- Memory sticks are small, stable and don't break easily. They allow you to transfer data between computers.
- Although flash memory is slower than computer's main RAM it can be a lot faster than a hard disk
- The main disadvantage is that they can easily be lost or stolen (at school! )
