Definitions for crime and punishment

Crime- An act against the law

Justice- Due allocation of reward and punishement, the matinence of what is right.

Law- Rules made by parliament and enfoceble by the courts.

Sin- An act against the will of god.

Deterrence- The idea that punishments should be of such a nature that they will put people off committing crime.

Rehabilitation- To restore to normal life.

Reform- The idea that punishments should try to change criminals so they won’t be offence.
