Circulatory Networks

Pulmonary Circulation - deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs and oxygenated back to left atrium

consists of:- pulmonary artery, pulmonary vein

Systemic Circualtion - oxygenated blood from left ventricle to the body tissues and deoxygenated back to the right atrium

consists of: - arteries, arterioles, cappilaries, venules, veins, inferior vena cava and superior vena cava

Vasomotor Control Centre VCC located in Medulla Ob

Stimulates the sympathetic nervous system to either vasodialte or vasoconstrict

recieves info from chemoreceptors and baroreceptors

warm up and cool down effects on vascular system

Warm up

  • gradual increase in blood flow
  • increase body temperatue
  • decrease OBLA

Cool down

  • keeps metabolic activity elevated
  • Maintains Blood flow
  • maintains repiratory pumps
  • keeps cappillaries dialated
