         Tests in the atmosphere
         Tests in space
         Tests underwater

- BUT - there were no armament reductions

- Both sides committed themselves to continued negotiations with a views to nuclear disarmament

- 1963

- Both sides agreed to the establishment of a hot line between Washington and Moscow

- It was intended to improve communication and create an effective means for resolving problems

- The fear of war created during the crisis proved to th leaders they needed to prevent nuclear war

- Led to Detente
