Intraspecific Competition
Occurs between members of the same species.

Occurs between members of a different species.
Each species occupoes a particular niche in an ecosystem.
If competators occupy the same niche or overlapping niches, equilibrium may be reached where neither succeeds as well as it could in the absense of the competitor.
If one declines in number to the point of extinction, this is known as competitive exclusion
