What is it?

  • Genetic condition
  • Result of an abnormality in the retina
  • Can be due to diseases such as diabetes and multiple sclerosis
  • Ageing process
  • True colour blindness is very rare, the individual has no colour perception at all
  • Colour vision deficiency is difficulty distinguishing between colours
  • Affects 2.7 million (4.5% of the population) mostly men
  • Varies in severity 
  • Some people are not aware that they are colour blind
