> Trap sediment being moved by longshore drift & broaden the beach

Advantages

> bigger beach, bring in more tourists

> not to expensive

Disadvantages 

> rock groynes unnatractive

> unnatural

Description

> Piles of large boulders dumped at the foot of the cliff

Explain

> Rock force waves to break, absorbing their energy & protecting the cliffs.

Advantages

> relatively cheap & easy to maintaing

Disadvantages 

> be obstructive

> not fit in with the local geology
