To convert to solid form: double bonds must be hydrogenated

SATURATED FAT is made: less healthy

Cracking

converts long chain hydrocarbons into smaller, more USEFUL hydrocarbons

Generally:
larger alkane ------> smaller alkane + smaller alkene

Conditions:
500 C
Al 0
no oxygen
