9 Types of Chemical Change

Thermal Decomposition - When one substance is broken down by heat.

Neutralisation - Reaction of Acid and Alkali to create a neutral product.

Displacement - When a reactive element displaces (pushes out) a less reactive element.

Precipitation - When two solutions react to form a solid, which sinks within the solution.

Oxidation - When an element receives oxygen and loses electrons.

Reduction - (Opposite of Oxidation) Loses oxygen from an element and gains electrons.

Exothermic - Giving out heat within a reaction.

Endothermic - (Opposite of Exothermic) Needs heat to react.

Reversible Reaction - A reaction that can be undone
