Permanent Dipole-Permanent Dipole Bonds

A permanent dipole occurs when there is a large difference in the electronegativity of a covalent molecule (e.g. HCl).

 - The hydrogen in this molecule has a very low electronegativity, while the chlorine is highly electronegative.

 - This means the chlorine pulls the electron pair in the bond towards it so it gains a partial charge of
