Breif view of his life

Born at Dunfermline on 19 November 1600
Second son of James I and Anne of Denmark
His elder brother Henry died of Typhoid in 1612
Charles became heir to the throne
He was made Prince of Wales
He was made King of England in March 1625
Hid first Parliament opposed him marrying Henrietta Maria ( she was a Roman Catholic)
They feared Charles wold lift restrictions on Roman Catholics and undermine Protestantism
He promised he would not lift the restrictions on Catholics
He promised that in a secret marriage treaty with Louis XIII
Charles and his wife had nine children, with three sons and three daughters surviving childhood
