The majority of large urbansised cities have lots of similarities for example starbucks and Mcdonalds are in almost every city in the world. Most cities also have tall towers like New York or London giving them similar characteristics.
The majority of change occured from the 1970s onwards with dramatic changes to their physical appearance, economy, social composition, governence, shape and size.
For example in los Angeles the landscape and character changes drastically throughout the areas, the centre is compartmentalised, there are vietnemese shops and China town shows drastic character change within a small area.
Because cities are now becoming more globalised most cities have set areas for ethnic groups e.g China town, this diversity is making the majority of global cities very similar in their structure.
