Types of Cell

Animal Cells contain:

  • cell membrane
  • nucleus
  • ribosomes
  • mitochondria
  • cytoplasm

Plant Cells contain:

  • nucleus
  • cell membrane
  • cell wall
  • cytoplasm
  • vacuole
  • chloroplasts
  • mitochondria
  • ribosomes

Explanation

  • nucleus = controls cell activities and contains genetic information
  • cytoplasm = chemical reactions go on here
  • cell membrane = controls what enters and leaves the cell
  • cell wall = supports and protects the cell
  • chloroplasts = photosynthesis occurs here
  • vacuole = contains cell sap
  • mitochondria = respiration occurs here
  • ribosomes = proteins are made here

only 1 cell = muscle cell

2+ cells = muscle tissue

lots of muscle tissue = organ

organ = several tissues working together

system = several organs working together
