CD-R (compact Disk- Recordable) is a type of compact disk that was invented by phillips and sony. CD-R unlike other standard CD readers the CD-R retains a high level of compatability and can be re-written but however unlike other readers it is not capable of playing different readers,these are the many advantages and disadvantages of the CD-R.

The way bin which a CD-R work is  the CD drive shines a laser at the surface of the CD and detects reflective areas and bumps depending on the amount of laser light it reflects after this the drive converts the reflections from the laser light into 1's and 0's to read the digital data on the disk.
