- A child and their primary caregiver were put in a room and in 3 minute intevals would introduce different situations to the child to test how they react in different situations.
- A stranger would be introduced and the behavioural categories would be tallied against, including distressed behaviour...etc

- The results showed that there are 3 main types of attachment a child can form with their primary carer:

A - 70% - securely attached

B - 20% - insecure-avoidant

C - 10% - insecure-resistant
