Welfare Organisations
- Influence society in three main ways:
- campaigns
- lobbying
- direct animal protection
- to alter people's attitudes towards animal welfare issues

Charities
- help and raise funds
- promote knowledge
- provide the opportunity for rehoming or release of animals
- have a 6-digit registration number (must be shown on all documentation)
- most welfare organisations are registered charities
- all charities must produce a 'governing document'
- 4 types of charity structure:
- Charitable incorporated organisation (e.g., WWF)
- Charitable company
- Unincorporated association (RWAF for example)
- Trust (smaller charity structure)

Regulatory Bodies
- A regulatory body is a public authority or government agency responsible for exercising autonomous authority over some area of human activity in a regulatory or supervisory capacity.
- An examples of a regulatory agency in the UK would be CITES.
- The government also have an area called the Animal Health and Welfare Board for England and DEFRA
- set codes of practice
- disease control of notifiable diseases
- NOAH regulates medicine use
- local authorities (e.g. county councils)

- provides public support for or recommendations of a particular cause of policy
- professional bodies
- trade associations

- Trade Associations and Professional Bodies
- NarpsUK; Beta and Repta and trade associations
- RVC, BVA and RABDF are professional bodies
- Trade Association: members are businesses
- Professional Bodies: members are individual people
- An organisation that is found and funded by a group of businesses that operate in aspecific industry

- Breed Societies and Councils
- promote, preserve and improve their particular breed

- regulate breeding or raise funds for research related to the breed
- lobbying for legislation changes
- see standards for Health and Safety and/or ethical conduct hold events

- promotes the use, breeding, well-being, safety, environment, health and management of the horse for the public benefit
