British Standards

  • BS 5722 is the flammability performance of fabric used in sleepwear - is mandatory for children and elderly people's nightwear. Flammability relates to the garment as a whole including threads, trimmings, labels, etc
  • BS EN 23758 is the Care Labelling Code. Care labels are voluntary and use symbols that are consistent with after care equipment
  • regulations require most textile products to be labelled with type and quantity by percentage of different fibres used
  • the label must use the generic name of the fibre like Elastane rather than Lycra
