The Skeleton.....

  • Supports

The joints

  • Bones are attached to other bones by slightly elastic ligaments.
  • A layer of cartilage prevents wear of the surfaces in contact.
  • A small amount of fluid called synovial fluid helps to also reduce friction

The muscles

Bending the arm - Biceps contract and triceps relax

Straightening the arm - Biceps relax and triceps contract.
