Biology Tests

Test for Lipids

-cooking oil, same amount of ethanol and shake

-add water.

Results- white emulsion on top of test tube, ethanol dissolves in water and leaves lipids behind.

Test for Proteins

-small amount off egg

-few drops of Binuet Solution.

Results- egg and binuet solution begin to turn purple.

Test for Starch

-few drops of iodide on potatoe.

Results- potatoe goes black.

Test for Glucose

-add glucose, water and a few drops of Benedicts Solution

-mixture goes blue

-in test tube, place in beaker of water and heat over bunsen burner.

Results- turns from blue to orange.
