variation plants and animals

Organisms of the same species have differences

Organisms of the same species will usually look slightly different. These differences are called variation within a species. There are two types of variation genetic variation and environmental variation.

Different genes cause genetic variation.

An organisms characteristics are determined by the genes inherited from its parents. The combining of genes from a mother and father crates genetic variation.

Characteristics are also influenced by the Enviroment.

Any difference caused by the conditions something lives in.

Genes Chromosomes and DNA

Most cells in your body have a nucleus and this contains your genetic information.

The human cell contains 23 pairs of chromosones. They are all well known and numbered.

Chromosomes carry genes. different genes control different characteristics.
