Solute Exchange - Active Transport.

;Substances move by diffusion osmosis and active transport:

Life processes need gasses or other dissolved substances before they can happen, for example for respiration to take place glucose and oxygen both have to get inside the cell. waste substances also need to get out of the cell so the organism can can get rid of them. Th substance move to where they need to go by osmosis, diffusion and active transport.

DIFFUSION IS WHERE PARTICLES MOVE FROM AN AREA OF HIGH CONCENTRATION TO AN AREA OF LOW CONCENTRATION.

OSMOSIS IS SIMILAR BUT ONLY REFERS TO WATER. THE WATER MOVES ACROSS FROM A PARTIALLY PERMEABLE MEMBRANE FROM AN ARE OF HIGH WATER CONCENTRATION TO AN AREA OF LOW CONCENTRATION.

The Respiratory System.

You need to get oxygen from the air  into your bloodstream so that it can get into your cells for respiration. you also need to get rid of carbon dioxide in your blood. This all happens inside the LUNGS . breathing is how the air gets in and out of your lungs.

The LUNGS are in the Thorax:

The thorax i seperated from the lower part of the body by the diapraghm.

The lungs are protected by he ribcage.

The aire you breath goes to the trachea  this splits in to tw tubes , the bronchi, each going to one lung each.

The bronchi spilt progressively in to smaller tubes called the bronchioles.

The bronchioles end at small bags called alveoli where the gas exchange takes place.l

Lung disease causes.

Industrial materials such as asbestos can cause cancers aswell as a disease called abestiosis ( where the lung tissue is scarred causing breathlessness and even death)  asbestos is usually used as an insulator for roofs, floors.

Genetic Causes for example cystic fibrosis is aninherited lung conditon. a single defective gene can cause the lungs to produce a really thivk mucs that clogs up the lungs - this makes breathing incredibly difficult.

Lifestyle causes for example smoking can cause lung cancer. This is where cells divide out o ontrol forming tumour. the abnormal  cells and can spread.
