Emphysema is described as a chronic disease.

= A chronical illness:  means a long standing ilnness, that your more likely not to be cured and you cant do nothing e.g. your weak.

Emphysema is a form of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Describe how smoking could cause changes in the alveoli?

= when the person breath the smoke it will go down the bronchie , to the lung and then to the alveoli.

if a person smoke or takes in alot of smoke the alveoli would become less stretchy this would mean it is un healthy which would make the alveoli more narrower. This would make it harder for the person to breath as the alveoli is narrower compare to a healthy one the alveoli is not narrower. This would make the person short of breath and extremly tierd.

In the cigarette it contains tar which is harmfull, tar  can destroys the cilia. 

Another harmful substance is carbon monoxide where your body have too much oxygen (O2).
