Pulmonary tuberculosis

Tuberculosis 

Causes and symptoms
Caused by two rod shaped bacteria :
mycobacterium tuberculosis or mycobacterium bovis.

Symptos :
persistant cough, tiredness and los of appetite that leads to weight loss.
As the disease develops: fever and coughing up of blood may occur

Transmission
Is spread through the air by droplets, released into the air when infected individuals cough, sneeze, laugh or even talk. The bacteria can survive weeks once the droplet has been dried. You would be in great risk of contracting TB if:

  •  you are in xlose contact with am infected individuals over long periods.
  • Work or reside in long-term care faxilities where relatively large numbers of people live close together.
  • countries where TB is common or have reduced immunity.
