Describe how are Fats broken down in the body (6 m

  • Lipase is the enzyme that breaks down fats into glycerol and amino acids
  • Bile (produced by the liver and stored in the gall bladder) emulsifies fats, giving them a larger surface area, and neutralises acid from the stomach in the small intestine (making it slightly alkaline - pH8)
  • Lipase are produced in the small intestine and pancreas and are released in the small intestine
