Biogas

Biogas - A flammable mixture of gases formed when bacteria break down waste plant materials or dead animals anaerobically, mainly methane

commercial quantities are made in biogas generators

leftovers are good for fertilizer

1 of 3

Biofuels

renewable

bioethanol, biodeisil eg.

move towards using maize to be converted into methanol to be used in cars

2 of 3

Bioethanol

The starch in maise is broken down by carbohydrase enzymes

The resulting sugars can be fermented anaerobically to produce ethanol

once water is removed by distillation the fuel can be used

bioethanol is nearly carbon neutral due to plants taking in co2

however huge areas of land needed to grow maise would mean less land available for food production or housing
