Biogas

Microoganisms used to decompose living organisms waster or dead plants to produce biogas. It can be burned to heat water or in central heating systems can be used in turbines to generate electricity

Advantages Biogas is renewable

Carbon dioxide released is balanced out the the Carbon dioxide removed for photosynthesis.

Biogas is fairly clean

Raw material are cheap and readily available

Ethanol

Ethanol is a type of fuel (found in alcohol) it burns to give arbon dioxide and water. yeast is used to ferment sugars. Sugar cane and sugar beet are used in the production of ethanol.

Cars can be adapted to run on 10% ethanol 90% petrol (gasohol) it requires large amounts of fertile land to grow the crops which means less land for food.

Using gasohol instead of pure petrol means less crude oil is being used. also the carbon dioxide released is balanced out with the carbon dioxide taken out forphotosynthesis.

However distillig the ethanol after fermentation still requires a lot of energy
