Biodigester

Outline the process of producing penicillin

?

The biodigester

A biodigester is a large vessel made from stainless steel used to produce large quantities of a certain chemical, usually the product of a particular microbe.
Eg, penicillin

The process of producing penicillin:
Culture placed in fermenter: to allow fungus to reproduce
Collect batch and filter: to remove solid material
Collect filtered liquid: it contains penicillin
Penicillin crystallised: penicillin concentrated
Put into capsules: medicine ready for use.
