Bacteria

  • Single-celled living organisms
  • 1um in length
  • It is made up of cytoplasm surrounded by a membrane and a cell wall
  • Inside the the bacterial cell is the genetic material
  • The long strand of DNA (the bacterial chromosome) is usually circular and found free in the cytoplasm
  • They also contain plasmids which ar circular bits of DNA whic carry extra genetic information
  • Slime capsule around the outside of the cell wall
  • They have flagellum, a long protein strand that lashes about

Yeast

  • Single-celled organisms
  • Has a nucleus containing the genetic material, cytoplasm, and a membrane surrounded by a cell wall
  • Yeast reproduce by asexual budding
  • The anaerobic respiration of yeast is called fermentation
