Controlling body temperature

Core body temperature has to be kept constant

  • temperature receptors in the skin detect the external temperature
  • receptors in the hypothalamus detect blood temperature
  • nervous system helps to control body temo by using negative feedback

1) Temperature receptors detect that the body temp. is to high or low

2) The hypothalamus acts as a processing centre - recieves the info from the temperature receptors and triggers the effectors automatically triggers the effector

3) Effectors produce a response and counteract the change
