Why do we need the sun?

The sun provides:

thermal energy - helps keep Earth's atmosphere warm

light energy - green plants use this to make food energy

animals, fungi and bacteria depend directly or indirectly on plants for food

this means all life on earth is dependant on the sun

Autotrophs - organisms that make their own food

- most are green plants
