  • Uses classical conditioning principles
  • Treats by pairing an emetic drug / electric shock with the unwanted behaviour
  • Person feels sick
  • Person becomes conditioned not to drink alcohol / not to engage in the inappropriate behaviour
  • Eg :

( Emetic drug )UCS ---->>( nausea, vomiting )UCR

UCS emetic drug +CS (Alcohol) --->>nausea, vomiting UCR

CS ( Alcohol ) ----->> ( nausea, vomiting ) CR

  • Form of social control ( used to treat homosexual males in past )
