scattering and plum pudding and necleur model of a

The scattering experiment led to a change in the atomic model because

  • when they aimed a beam of alpha particles at the foil  some of them emrgered back at different angles. They realised that the positivley charge alpha particles were being repelled and deflected by a tiny concentration of a positive charged atom.
  • so it proved that there was protons in the atomic structure

The difference between the plum pudding model and the nucleur model of an atom is

  • they were expecting partciles to pass straight through as they thought the positive charge was spred out
  • in the nucleur model they siad the nucleus was positivleyy charged and the electrons would orbit it so the postive would deflect and pass through the spaces

speration techniques

chromatography - mixture of liquids eg inks and dyes

filtiration - insoulble solid form a liquid mixture

evaporation or crystilastion - a soulble salt form a soloution -- heat the solution the solvent will evapourate.

distillation- a liquid from a solution.

fractional distilation - mixture of liquids eg crude oil -- the different liquids have diiferent boilling pionts so they will evapourate at diferent tempretures ; so the lowest will evapourate first.
