The input stage (Stimulus Identification) - the detection of available sensory information

Five familiar sensory receptors - eyes, ears, nose, skin and tongue.

Less familiar propriocepters - e.g. muscle and joint receptors

Kinesthetic Information - body awareness, from proprioceptors, and movements of the body.

Decision Making (Response Selection) - Use all information gathered to trigger the motor programme.

Output (Response Programming) - also known as Motor Programme Selection

The output is the athlete performing the motor programme that he has decided to use
