Activation Enery

The minimum energy required for a reaction to occur.

Biofuel

Fuel produced from renewable plan material (biomass).

Bond dissocation enthaply

The enthaply change for the breaking of a covalent bong, with all species in the gaseous state.

Carbocation

A species which contains a carbon atom that has a postive charge. 

Carbon Neutral

Applies to a process which occurs without any change in the total amount of carbon dioxide present in the atmosphere. 

Catalyst

A substance which alters the rate of a reaction without itself being consumed. Generally lowers to activation energy. 

Chemical equilibrium

The point at which, in a reversible reaction, both the forward and backward reactions occur at the same rate, with the concentrations of all reactants and products remaining constant.

Electrophilic addition

C double bond becomes saturated, into a non double bond.

Elimination reaction

one in which an unsaturated compound is formed by the removeal of a small molecule.
