People who try to make peace are closer to God

You have to do everything necessary to wipe out evil

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God"

"Thus says the Lord...kill both man and woman, infant and suckling"

Being truthful and protesting peacefully is seen as greater by Allah than taking military action

You are permitted to punish someone equally to what they have done (e.g a life for a life) however, if you forgive instead your reward with come from Allah

"The most excellent jihad is to speak the truth in the face of a tyrannical ruler"

"The reward for an injury is an equal injury back, however if a person forgives instead his reward will come from God"

If peaceful means of settling conflict do not work, then it is right to go to war

"If all efforts to restore peace prove useless...it is right to draw the sword"
