Digging Up the Ore - Summary

Metals are found in chemical compounds in the rocks of the earth.

Some metals are very unreactive and are found in their native state.

Rocks that contain enough of the metal/metal compound are worth extracting and called ores.

Metals such as zinc and iron are found combined with oxygen and can be extracted using chemical reactions.

These are known as reduction reactions as oxygen is removed from the oxide
