APOPLASTIC PATHWAY

Water is drawn unto endodermal cells, and due to its cohesive nature, more water molecules are pulled behind it.

A tension is now created and this causes water to be drawn along the cell walls of the cells of the root cortex.

As there are many water filled spaces, there is little/no resistance to this pull of water along cell walls.
