For example, it can occur with patient and doctor, or student and teacher. It can exist in a romantic relationship where an individual may be needy and demanding like they once were with their parents. These types of transference have been demonstrated by the attachment styles experienced in infancy carrying forward into adulthood (Waters et al., 2000).
