The Cardiac cycle AS Biology Edexcel Unit 1

Throughout my AS level Biology i have endeavored to create a collection of my class notes and revision notes, that i will type up and folder. So i can use them for revision purposes, but then i thought how time consuming this is for me, probably why i didn't think of this sooner!
So i have decided to share all my class notes and revision resources on here for other people studying whom don't have the time to sit and type them all up :)

This Particular one is about the Cardiac cycle and the three stages, i kept it nice and brief for revision purposes.

If you would like anything requested please feel free to comment, i will be adding more and more through out the course.

Cardiac Cycle
Atrial Systole
The muscles in the wall of the atria contract, increasing the pressure. This causes the atrio-ventricular
valve to open, so that more blood can be pushed into the ventricle.
Ventricular Systole
The atrio- ventricular shut, due to the decrease of pressure in the atria. The muscles in the wall of the
ventricular contract, increasing the pressure. This causes the semilunar valves to open, so that more
blood can be pushed through the aorta/pulmonary artery.
Complete Diastole
The semilunar valve shut, due to the decrease of pressure in the ventricular. The heart muscles then
relax (atria diastole and ventricular diastole). Blood flows into the atria, through the pulmonary vein/
vena cava, so the cycle is ready to begin again.
